Despite all the grading I've been doing, along with all the other obligations, I actually did finish revising my novel, and late last night I entered it in the Amazon.com Breakthrough Novel Contest. Hurray!
I made it through several hoops last year, and while I don't expect that success every year, I have to pat myself on the back that I actually turned it in! I met a deadline!
I'll let you know how it all goes, even if I have to admit that this year I didn't even make it out of the first round. No effort, however little rewarded, is ever wasted.
If you have a manuscript you've been sitting on, submit it! What do you have to lose?
Good luck with your book! That is a great accomplishment! I am still working on a novel I started in November for the National Novel Writing Month. It is my first rough draft, and I can't imagine how long it will take before I have a completed/revised work. Kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you did NaNoWriMo! My sister and a friend did, too!
ReplyDeleteI have been entirely uninterested in contests since the Gather fiasco. I think I'm going to continue to pursue the old-fashioned method.
ReplyDeleteUnless you blow them away. Then, I'll reconsider. :)
Either way, best of luck.
Congrats and good luck.
ReplyDeleteI have just made the decision to do a complete re-write of my novel. So starting back at ground zero...
Keep us posted on your entry. thx
Way to go Shakes, I knew you could do it!!!! I sincerely hope your hope turns to a vision realized.
ReplyDeleteTruth be told I have seven or eight novel length mss' and no desire to go back and edit them. Nothing to lose in choosing one but then I am having too much fun doing what I am doing right now and haven't even opened that file in two years or so.
Wow!!! You're such an inspiration. Somehow managing to write a book while you've got everything else going on in your life. Good luck in your contest!
ReplyDelete:)
Good luck! I hope things work out for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everybody! I'll let you know how it goes...
