Early Morning Rant

I'm still working on the backsplash. I designed it perfectly, so that I pretty much have to cut every single tile at least once. Brilliant. Several days' more work to go before I'm done, I fear.

Even worse, I woke at 3:30 a.m. with a horrid Christmas song running through my head, along with the steps from Zumba running through my legs. And calluses everywhere. Some from yard work, most from doing the %&#$! backsplash. I tried to go back to sleep. But no, it wasn't going to happen. So I got up, wrote a little, read a little, and tinkered.

I'm just starting to get tired again, as I hear little kids stirring in the bedrooms above me. This is going to be a very long day.

At least, at the end of it, the hubby will be home. For that, I am truly grateful.

  2. I'm also up early, but off to work. It's not so much my day is long, but my night is very very short.

  3. Oh, it be that way, sometime.

Hope the backsplash finishes soon. At least you wrote, read, and tinkered a little. A productive insomnia.

Was it the obnoxious 12 Days of Christmas that was running through your head?

  4. Wish I could, Walking Man. Too much to do. I feel okay, though. If I don't get a good night's sleep tonight, I'm doomed.

Sorry the nights are too short, Stephanie. I usually go to bed early, since I so often wake up hours before the alarm (if I even set one).

I hope the backsplash finishes soon, too. I finished a full kitchen wall... now I have the other corner wall... trying to figure out how I want it to meet the first wall. And, alas, it was not the 12 Days. It was the Carpenters' "Merry Christmas, Darling," one of my least favorite Christmas songs EVER. Then again, there are several annoying ones to choose from. Let's hope I don't come up with another one tomorrow morning.

  5. That "song stuck in head" thing is annoying, huh?

At least you don't have to finish a backsplash all at once. Like when you tile a floor. Until THREE O'CLOCK in the morning. NEVER will I do that again.

  6. Oh, The Mother, I cannot tell you how grateful I am that I wasn't doing a floor. Richard tiled a past kitchen floor of ours, and I told him last night that the thought of having to do that gave me the shivers after this.

I'm done with the tiling part in the kitchen (not the hutch and butler's pantry), but I probably won't grout it for a few weeks, AFTER the hubby's father comes and leaves again. I've never been more grateful to have company coming in my life!
