Other Work
I've been a pretty productive writer over the last few days, finishing one revision and then even tweaking a short play.
But now I have to get to work. And it's not writing. I have a father-in-law coming in a week, and the kitchen backsplash needs doing. Now. Right now. No more delaying.
I'll be back in a few days, I hope, once the tiling is done.
Should have let me know Shakes. I have a son who does marble and granite everything for the cost of a plane ticket and materials I am sure he would have come and got it done in a day or so and you would have gotten a discount on materials. Oh well grout to it and see you in a few.
Isn't it funny how we can ignore the backsplash for ages and then someone is coming to visit who won't even notice the backsplash and yet we must furiously clean it?
Walking Man, I wish I'd known. Then again, I could have just hired someone here... but I'm too stingy. If I can do it myself--and the jury is still out on that one--I might as well do it myself. I finished the bottom third yesterday, but the hardest part is yet to come, and it involves a lot of tile cutting.
Unfortunately, Enchanted Oak, I chucked the existing 80s tile, so merely cleaning the backsplash isn't an option. I have considered just leaving most of it painted, and tiling only the bottom, but that would mean a bunch of other work--smoothing, etc. I think I'm just going to grit my teeth and finish it properly.
Thanks for the luck, Jeff. Hopefully by the time you finish with that, I'll be finished with this.

ReplyDeleteGood luck... and I love your piece (so far) that you've sent me. I hope to have it back to you soon, like a week or so.
