Rub sleep from your eyes
And you may see the sparkle
In the shadow corners
Of your messy bedroom
Trudge to the cupboard for a bowl
But notice, out of the corner of your eye,
The immaculate slate
Awaiting your chalk strokes
Wake up, and grumble
--If you like--
But don't grumble too loud
Or you'll chase away the spirits
They are there
All around you
Waiting
Hoping today
For once
You will notice.
Ahhhhh wonderful. I just did rub the sleep from my eyes. Nice way to start the day... looking for the spirits, that is.

I have to get away from this GAHHHH! spirit that has taken hold of late. Maybe I need the night time and the stars to write with.
ReplyDeleteWould that we will always remember this........

Lou Belcher, so glad I could make your morning!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling, Walking Man. But that spirit doesn't seem to help me at all... just leaves me screaming at myself. Maybe that's why I get up so early, so that I can start with the little quiet spirits, and be in a good enough frame of mind to fight off the yelling ones.
Thanks, Mimi!
That's wonderful! I wandered over from Jeff's blog.
